On January 4, 2007, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty unveiled his plan to provide the city’s children with hope and opportunity through an education reform initiative. The plan, approved by the DC Council, passed by the US Congress, and enacted with the signature of the President, ensures rational, streamlined education policy by making the mayor accountable and responsible for managing DC Public Schools.
